What is a Pixel?
A pixel is a small part of a image or sprite of an image to make the image more clear and details depending on the resolution a pixel can also be referred to as a pixel element.
Raster image
A Raster image is where when you zoom into and image and edit it you then doesn't retain the quality the picture blow the bitmap image shows when you zoom in its pixelated on the right but on the left the vector image keeps its quality when you zoom in.
GIF
Graphic Interchange Format is a type of bitmap which can be used for animations for sprite and you don't loose the quality but more pixel art its also good to use on web browser which can be used in games like Naruto Konoha Senki for GameBoy.

Bit Map
Bit Map images is a type of file format where its more pixelited which downgrades the quality which is made from different colors which is used for Iphones and Ipad games one example is bitmap brothers.
This image is an example between a BitMap quality and a Vector quality
TIFF
TIFF is a file format of a raster image which is used in the imprinting industry the file is so long you have to compress it uncompressed it a TIFF which is also used with photography.
TFF prints the image on and it doesn't loose its compression while calculating the save image data of the file.
Jpeg
Jpeg is where you zoom in or compress the image you will still keep the quality is a format for pictures which is used from taking photos from a camera when you share any images all the pixels from the picture to keep the quality.
If you use a Jpeg for a mobile game it saves space and its sharper and cleaner but it changes the calculation and shapes while converting it

Vector Images
Vector Images is when you zoom in it doesn't become pixelated.
PSD
A PSD file is a file format used in adobe photoshop where you can edit text or an image so its alot clearer and sharper it also has a double layer and has a file extension
This image is the PSD file format for Adobe Photoshop your image will be saved in this format if you save in photoshop.
As you open a image it opens the image in layers if you save as a jpeg the image is compressed but if you save it as a PSD the file size is bigger.
WMF
Windows Meta File which can contain both bitmap and Vector images this file is used with Microsoft windows the file used to be 16 bit when included with windows 3.0 Windows media files which can be opened
with PowerPoint, Word and Publisher.
This is the WMF file format where your image will be saved if your using the programme.
FLA
FLA file format is a master document file for flash projects that have all the elements of flash for example graphics, animation, action script code and instructions FLA files don'
t play or open instead you export EXE file or SWF into FLA to preview or edit your work at anytime.
This image is the file format your image will be saved as if you use flash.
AI
Adobe Illustrator can be used for scanning photos or pictures is also used by graphic designers to create vector images for company logos Adobe illustrator can also be used to create charts and graphs diagrams and cartoons.
The image is the file format used in Adobe Illustrator when you save your work when using the program.
AI is a lossy file extension as its compressed.
